A Evening of Elegance

Hey yall. Last night changed it all.

Yoshi's has denied me for at least 3 years from performing in their venue and this is the premiere Jazz
venue in the bay and it has a consistent scene and brings music lovers out in droves.

''Martin Luther is too much Rock and Roll for Yoshi's''

Well last night we rocked and rolled with So much Soul

Run down...

I wanted to bring a very special show to Yoshi's and some of the other venues in town
by way of involving some of my very very special singers and musician friends.

Silk E came up with the title.. ''An Evening of Elegance'' and I took it and put it to use when
they decided to give me a shot at a night in Oaklands famous music lounge.

Such a well built room with plenty of wood all around with such tasty ambience and management and staff
get an A+ from me.

So anyway, Feb 20th would be the date. A wednesday not a weekend... Two Sets. Relatively low ticket price. Extremely low
fee....what ever.
I have expectations of myself and I want nothing but the best and most lucrative arrangements when it comes
to me putting my all into an event.

We were promised promotional assistance that never materialized.

So REBEL SOUL JAHS ACTIVATE

Yvonne got on her grind. Thus Chuy and KMEL quickly found a unique way to be supportive

Band members made efforts to get family and friends to come and Pay!

Antwon Snelgrow and the Saving Ours Babies Project represented and brought over 20 folks

Leigh and her Gimme Shoes staff brought a bus load a folks

Fritz from San Fran's Elite hair salon ''Hairplay'' and his friends and personal family came out and supported
I mean we had action teams and NO GUESTLIST

My Parents came out. They NEVER come out. Plus I play too late in the evening for them.. They saw
Me, My Sister, My sister's two daughters Krystal and Jordan, Silk E, Dave Boyce from Brown Felinis, Cody ChessnuTT
and bringing you the Business on Drums was Brian Collier, on Keys and the immaculate Grand Piano was Kev Choice who also spit flows on the mic and Jazz legend Nelson Braxton on electric and Upright. It was a stone groove man.

I saw so many old faces from the Bay and we had an experience not soon to be replicated or repeated. U had to be there.

Big Up to Peter and Angie from Yoshis.

Yvonne Angelo Shawn Peters Jeff Alston Michael Aczon Russell Gatewood Pam Campbell Lisa Keating Harold and Opal McCoy The Colemans Chris Webber Dominic Mullins Pascael Arceneaux Rob Bess and all the rest.. thank U

Great set...and I really dug "Old Soul" with Ches. Pascael told us(my bro and I) about you right when I got to the Bay, and it was great to hear you live. Since we share the same name, wanted to find out if there was any particular Martin you were named after (an uncle, Martin Luther, MLK?) I am the namesake of the latter.

Thanks again!

Martin

Looking at the audiance....you had that place packed.
You and your family rocked that place. I have never seen Yoshis with a better vibe.
